Episode 37: Request
“Hi,
my name is Sasaki.
There is someone I hate
very much right now. It's the section chief of the company I used to work for
until recently.
The man's name is Kengo
Kadokura.
Even though Kadokura
had a wife and child, he insisted on taking me out to dinner every chance he
got.
Since he was my direct
supervisor, it was difficult for me to say no, and I went to dinner with him
alone many times, even though I didn't want to.
But just the other day,
Kadokura's wife came into the office, and as soon as she saw me, she said, “You
little bitch!” She grabbed me.
A male employee
intervened and stopped the incident, but the company was temporarily in an
uproar.
There was some talk of
calling the police, but the company was reluctant, and the situation was
settled with me forgiving Kadokura's wife.
After Kadokura's wife
left, Kadokura and I were called into the manager's office and asked about the
situation, and Kadokura started to explain.
Then Kadokura blamed me
for everything.
Of course, I objected.
I told him that he was
the one who had persistently asked me out.
But the manager didn't
trust anything I said, and only relied on Kadokura's opinion.
I think the manager was
close to Kadokura and took Kadokura's side instead of mine.
A few days later, I was
transferred to the desk section.
The people around me
look at me strangely, and I work in a department with no career prospects and
no friends, holding a grudge against Kadokura every day.
...... I'm already
losing my mind.
Help me, please. I beg
you.”
A very long email was
sent to my phone that I couldn't believe since I had just finished typing the
ad.
“...Seriously, I got a
request.......”
I read the email again
in surprise.
But I couldn't
understand what the client, Sasaki-san, wanted me to do just by reading this
text.
“What should I do with
this one......?”
I should just ignore
this e-mail and change my e-mail address immediately.
I thought about it, but
in a corner of my mind, I felt a surge of anger towards this Kadokura guy.
“......mmm ......”
After a minute of
grumbling while looking at my phone, my finger naturally moved to the reply
button.
◇ ◇ ◇
After exchanging a
couple of emails, I found out that Sasaki-san lived closer to me than I
thought, whether by luck or bad luck, and we decided to meet at a coffee shop.
I put on a mask and a
hat and left the apartment in a slight disguise.
At first I wore
sunglasses, but Misa-chan, who happened to bump into me in front of my
apartment, asked me, “Onizuka-san, what's wrong with your outfit ......?” So, I
left the sunglasses in my room.
◇ ◇ ◇
When I entered the
coffee shop, there was still no one who looked like Sasaki-san.
So, I sat down at a
table at the back of the store and ordered a hot coffee and waited.
After a while, the hot
coffee was brought to me, and I blew on it and gently took a sip.
Bell chimed~
A woman walked into the
store looking flustered.
She was so beautiful that
I couldn't help but take a second look.
The woman looked at her
watch, out of breath, and then looked around at the seats.
I wondered what she was
thinking, so I gave her a simple “Gohon” and cleared my throat.
The woman seemed to be
Sasaki-san, and she came running to me and bowed deeply.
“I apologize for making
you wait.”
Her long hair swayed
and the scent of roses tickled my nostrils, probably from the shampoo.
“No, the meeting time
has not passed yet. It's just that I arrived early.”
In fact, there was
still fifteen minutes to spare before the meeting time.
It seems that we both
came too early because of our nervousness.
“I'm Kumiko Sasaki.
You're Onizuka-san, right?”
“Yes. Well, please sit
down for now. You'll stand out if you just stand there.”
“Oh, sorry.”
Sasaki-san hurriedly
sat down in front of me.
“Hi, I'm Onizuka.”
“I'm Kumiko Sasaki.
Thank you for listening to my story and meeting me.”
“It’s okay.”
At this point, the
waitress came to ask for our order.
Sasaki-san asked the waiter
for a cup of hot cocoa.
“You didn't give me any
details in your email, did you? To be frank, what do you want me to do?”
When I asked her, she
made sure the waitress went into the back kitchen, looked me in the eyes and
said,
“Please kill Kengo Kadokura.”
