Episode 52: A Glittering World

The royal tea ceremony was filled with the most beautiful furnishings Lynn had ever seen.

 The table were set with a pure white cloth and silver tableware, and there were magic stones everywhere that emitted seven different colors of light.

 The magic stones flickered slowly, intensifying and diminishing their brilliance, darkening and lightening their colors, alternately accentuating each other's light and adjusting the saturation so that no one color stood out too much.

 In addition, there were fairies flying and standing all over the room, spilling glittering drops of light.

 Fairies are generally attracted to places with strong magic, but Lynn had never seen a place filled with so much magic, or so many fairies, anywhere else.

 The fairies all seemed to be comfortable and were doing their own activities.

There was no need for lamps, lights, or sun stones in this room.

 It was hard to find a place in this room that didn't shine without such things.

 The light from the magic stones and fairies reflected off the silver tableware and the white tablecloths, creating a twinkling, intricately colored glow that illuminated the sumptuous food and drinks on the table.

 These decorations, however, were only a side note.

 What struck Lynn the most in this room was the attire of the people attending the party.

 Every single person was wearing something shiny.

 Rings, earrings, necklaces, and bangles.

 All of them have a special glow due to the power of light magic, which beautifully adorns the appearance of the wearer.

 Some were wearing mysterious clothing.

The silhouette was no different from normal clothing, but the pattern was constantly changing.

 The pattern was constantly changing, and it was also glowing vaguely.

 Perhaps she had cast a spell on the pattern of her clothes to make them change.

 For a moment, when the magic power weakened, Lynn could see something like a magic circle floating on the clothes of the woman who passed in front of her.

 In any case, the people in the hall were as beautifully dressed as the decorations in the room, giving them a strong presence.

 The only ones who were not wearing any shiny magical equipment were Lynn and Yuwen.

 Lynn let out a dry laugh.

 He had wondered if he should wear more expensive clothes, but then he realized that such worries were ridiculous.

 It didn't make much difference to the people in this room whether he spent a little more or less.

 Even Yuwen's clothes, which she had worn in the first class of the academy, looked plain and unrefined in this room.

As Lynn and Yuwen were being overwhelmed by the atmosphere of the room, a whisper came from the slight darkness on the side.

“Hello. Isn't it Master Lynn?”

“What? Yes, I am.”

"I am a servant in the royal household of Wyngarde, and Lady Illywia has sent me to inform you of this tea party.”

"Huh?”

 Lynn replied with some confusion, but the servant didn't care and began to speak.

It is customary at this royal tea party for the guests to go first to the host, in this case to greet Lady Illywia. Please stand in the line leading to the host's table over there. If you are thirsty, please feel free to take a drink from the side table. You will then be assigned a seat by Lady Illywia, so please follow the instructions.

 When Lynn looked at the tip of the finger that extended out of the darkness, he saw that there was a line of people heading towards what appeared to be the upper seat.

 It seemed that Illywia was at the end of the line.

 People were already eating drinks and snacks, chatting and laughing as they waited for their turn to greet Illywia.

“Okay.”

“Have a good day.”

“Um, what's your name?”

“I am one of the humble servants of the Kingdom of Wyngarde, and I am not worthy of a name.”

 Lynn tried to see the face of the person who had called out to him, but the darkness prevented him from seeing clearly.

 The tone of his voice suggested old age, but it was unclear whether he was male or female.

You must be careful to avoid the darkness. You're not wearing anything shiny, so you're in danger of colliding with us if you stay in the dark.

 Lynn noticed that there were places in the room that were intentionally darkened to prevent light from reaching them.

 As he looked into the darkness, he saw that the serving staff was working inconspicuously as if they were black, arranging and changing the heavy dishes, glasses and meals that the fairies could not carry.

"I wish you all a bright and shining path.”

 With that, the owner of the voice disappears into the darkness.

 Lynn felt inexplicably uncomfortable as he waited for his turn to greet Illywia.

 The stares of the other invited guests were painful.

 They all gave Lynn and Yuwen a look of confusion and contempt after staring at them.

 It was clear that they were not welcome at least.

 One by one, the people who had greeted Illywia left the line. Finally, it was Lynn's turn.

 Lynn was nervous about seeing Illywia for the first time in a long time.

 He wondered if it was really okay for him to be there. Would she treat him the same way as before?

"Hello, Lynn. Thank you for coming.”

 Illywia smiled elegantly at him.

 The smile was the same as when they had explored the demon forest together before.

 Lynn was relieved for the moment.

 However, he was nervous again when he saw what she was wearing.

 Her attire was one of the most luxurious of the magical garments that adorned this venue.

 Illywia's dress was made of a chic black fabric that reflected and exercised the glow of the stars in the night sky.

 The stars glittered in reds, blues, and yellows, giving off a strong presence of cosmic grandeur and infinite fragility, but without detracting from her natural beauty.

 He wondered how much skill, effort, and knowledge of magic it must have took to create such a beautiful garment.

 She was sitting comfortably on a three-seater sofa with gorgeous carvings and vivid embroidery.

The table in front of me was piled high with gift boxes and artwork that must have been sent by tonight's guests, and those that didn't fit on the table were placed on the floor.

 The table was piled high with gift boxes and artifacts from tonight's guests.

 Lynn glanced over at Yuwen.

 As expected, she was downcast and embarrassed.

 Lynn understood exactly how she felt.

 Illywia's beauty was the kind of thing you wanted to look at from a distance if you could.

 But now that she was up close and personal, she couldn't help but be aware of her lowly status.

“Thank you for the invitation.”

 Lynn gave the standard greeting.

“I was hoping to see you again.”

 Illywia smiled and said so to Lynn.

 Lynn gave a vague smile.

 To be honest, he had failed to gauge her true intentions.

 Lynn had learned from his many experiences since coming to this tower that there were two sides to everything people said.

 Especially when it comes to what people of noble status say.......

 How much of what she said could he take seriously?

 Why did she invite the likes of him?

“I was disappointed to hear that you would no longer be invited to Magrillheim, but then I remembered that you said you wanted to attend the nobleman's tea party, so I thought I would invite you.”

“I didn't expect that you would actually invite me.”

 “You must be surprised. I've put a lot of thought into surprising you.”

 She put her hand over her mouth and smiled elegantly.

 It seems that she is still as mischievous as ever.

“I didn't know you had such a nasty disease, Lynn.”

 Illywia chuckled as if she could see through everything.

 Lynn lowered his head in embarrassment.

“Whenever I do this, I'm going to call you ...... uh, ...... Yuwen, right? I'll make sure to call her as well.”

 Illywia smiled at Yuwen as well.

Even though Yuwen had been assured that she would be called upon again in the future, she only made a modest bow and kept a low profile.

 She was completely deflated by the atmosphere.

 It was understandable.

 Instead of enjoying the tea party so far, she was only reminded that she was the wrong person for the occasion.

 She was a vain person.

 In fact, she was so embarrassed that she wanted to leave right now.

"Lynn, you and Yuwen seem to be quite shy, don't you?”

"eh? Yes, that’s right.”

 Knowing the normal appearance, Lynn only replied vaguely.

"Lynn. Come and sit here. You too.”

 Ilywia invited Lynn and Yuwen to sit on the couch opposite her own.

 The crowd of invited guests was buzzing.

 All of the people who had come to greet Illywia before had stood and exchanged a word or two and then been dismissed.

 The fact that he was sitting beside her was clearly a special treat.

"Can I help you?”

 Illywia asked, seeing that Lynn was confused.

“I'm sorry. I don't know if it's okay. Is it okay for us to sit here?”

“It's fine. It's fine, I've given my permission. Who is going to object?”

 I'm sure there is no one here who would disagree with her, because the highest person in the room is Illywia.

 But......

(Even if Illywia-san is nice, the envy and jealousy of those around her will come back to haunt me.......)

 People were already starting to look at Lynn with envy and jealousy. Lynn also sensed it in the eyes of the people.

 However, he was afraid to turn down Illywia's offer.

 Lynn did as Illywia asked, even though he was concerned about the people around her.

 Episode 36 Sebastian

Ghost forgive me!

Seriously forgive me!

Why are you attacking me when you can't even damage me?

I can't believe it! I swear!

I heard a funny log about taking 0 damage, so I teased him a bit and got myself into a lot of trouble!

{Log: Golem took 0 damage from Ghost}

Shit! Even at a time like this, it's as if you're mocking me with a series of attacks!

Ghost, don't think you'll be easily forgiven!

You've stepped into a realm you shouldn't have stepped into.

{Log: The rage has subsided due to the effects of the [Enlightened One]}

I am a golem.

I am a golem with a sparkling, metal body.

I have lost a few friends. Yes, it is because I have misjudged the distance between me and them.

{Log: Golem took 0 damage from Ghost}

I made a mistake.

It's like when you get a little carried away, but, you're actually not that close. The voice of the world and I were friends who hadn't yet found a relationship of trust. It was as if we were high school students who had just started high school and were still trying to figure out the distance between each other. Because we were not friends, we had to find the right distance.

It is too late to regret what has already been done, and it is irreparable even if you regret what you have done

{Log: Golem took 0 damage from Ghost}

The ghosts are attacking me as if they are in a group. Where are they coming from? I looked around, but couldn't see anything.

Maybe I can't see the ghost with my eyes!? Never thought I will be going to fight an invisible enemy.

{Log: Golem took 0 damage from Ghost}

Damn, maybe I'm getting carried away, the attack interval from the ghost is getting shorter.

You…

I pushed on the door with the broken doorknob, but it didn't open. I tried pushing a little harder. There was a cracking sound and the door opened. A closer look revealed that the lock was broken. I'm sorry, door. I have to go on.

{Log: Golem took 0 damage from Ghost}

{Log: Golem took 0 damage from Ghost}

{Log: Golem took 0 damage from Ghost}

Just as I was about to enter the room, it attacked me in rapid succession. It was as if it was angry with me. How cowardly of him to attack me without showing himself.

But then I saw a handsome butler in front of me. He has a nice mustache. It's pointy and pointed upward. I think this kind of mustache is called a Kaiser mustache.

He's like the butler in the stories. Yes, Sebastian. The Sebastian whose name often appears in dramas and stories. Sebastian the butler. Such a butler was right in front of my eyes. Could it be that he was living in this house? No, no. Not at all. There was no trace of human life at all.

Sebastian is trying to talk to me about something.

"XX ● × !"

{Log: Golem took 0 damage from Ghost}

It's like he's yelling at me. I'm sorry, I don't have a [Translator] right now, so I can't understand what Sebastian is saying. Based on Sebastian's facial expressions and body language, he seems to be angry with me.

I point to the door I came in through. Oh, so you're angry because I broke it a little? That makes a lot of sense.

I bent my body at a right angle from the waist and bowed my head. In my mind, I said "I'm sorry" out loud. I can't twist or contort my body, but I can bend it at a right angle. I wondered if my apology had gone through. I glanced at him.

"XX ● × !"

{Log: Golem took 0 damage from Ghost}

Oh, no. Sebastian is still angry. I don't know what to do. The ghosts are still attacking me. I've got a lot of problems in front of me.

There's Sebastian to deal with, Ghost to deal with. And finding the brush. It doesn't matter how many problems there are, I have to take care of them one by one.

Sebastian approaches the door angrily. Sebastian looks a little scared. I step away from the door to get some distance from Sebastian.

{Log: Golem took 0 damage from Ghost}

Even at times like this, the ghost continues to attack me. However, since I'm not damaged, I think I'll hold off on dealing with the ghost for a bit. I'll just ignore it.

As I was thinking about how to deal with my ghost, Sebastian was kneeling next to the broken door. To my surprise, Sebastian was staring at the broken doorknob and lock, looking like he was about to cry.

Awkward.

It's very awkward. Something in my conscience is aching. Unable to bear the atmosphere, I picked up the doorknob that was lying at my feet.

Sebastian notices me.

I nodded slowly and gently placed the broken doorknob in my hand on the original spot on the door. Sebastian looks at me with an expectant expression on his face, wondering if I can fix it. I respond in my mind, "Huh, don't get your hopes up so high," and gently move the doorknob so that it doesn't fall off.

Callan.

The doorknob immediately fell to the ground. I guess I couldn't defeat gravity after all. If I had had some glue, I might have been able to do something, but unfortunately, this was a different world. There was no such useful item as glue.

As I face my reality and calmly contemplate it, Sebastian's mouth opens wide and he looks like he's in despair. The look on his face did not indicate that he was in despair. I'm sorry Sebastian, but there are things I can do and things I can't do.

"××●× × × !"

{Log: Golem took 0 damage from Ghost}

Sebastian gets more angrier than before, perhaps as a reaction to the fact that he expected a little more. I didn't realize that my good intentions were not reciprocated.

I pick up the broken doorknob again with my right hand and show it to Sebastian. This is a broken doorknob. Do you understand?

He then points to the broken door with his left hand. This is a broken door. Do you understand?

I gently push the broken doorknob against the broken door again. I hold out my left hand, palm up, toward Sebastian. It says, "You see, Sebastian? You can't fix a broken door by pushing a broken doorknob against a broken door.”

Sebastian stares at me with half-lidded eyes.

{Log: Golem took 0 damage from Ghost}

You… I don't like it when people look at me like that. I held my hand and thought about what I should do. There was no way I could come up with a good idea. I can't keep supporting the doorknob all the time. I had no choice but to take my right hand off the doorknob.

I wondered if the doorknob would fall off with a clang, but it didn't. The doorknob is still attached to the door. And the door itself seems to be getting cleaner.

Sebastian's eyes widen in surprise.

I'm surprised, too.

What? What do you mean? No way it's fixed right?

Fearfully, I put my hand on the doorknob and turn it. The doorknob turns with a clunk. The doorknob is doing its job!

Oh, my God! It's fixed! I don't know what happened, but I did it! I’m no ordinary golem you see!

{Log: Excitement has subsided due to the effects of the [Enlightened One]}

Sebastian was also happy that the doorknob was fixed. Phew. I told you not to worry about anything. Just leave it to me and it will be fine. There's nothing I can't do. I looked at Sebastian, feeling inwardly proud of myself.

However, Sebastian turned his attention to the gate of the mansion. There, he saw the gate had been cruelly knocked down. There are people who do terrible things. But the person who knocked it down didn't do it out of love either. They just couldn't open it, so they pushed it a little bit and it fell over.

Tragedies like this are caused by misplaced good intentions.

Sebastian turns to me, points to the gate and says something.

"● × × ×"

I guess you want me to fix that too. Sure, there's nothing I can't do. I nodded slowly and made my way to the gate. I wondered if Sebastian would follow me, but he didn't move from the front door. I wondered if he didn't want to go into the grass.

If you're going to let the grass grow so rampantly, why not take care of it?

When I reached the gate of the mansion. I set the gate in its original position. I gently remove my hand. OK, I thought, I'll go back to the mansion, so I gently let go. Phew, phew. It didn't come down. Mission accomplished.

As I turn to face the house, the gate crashes down on my head with a thud. Sebastian is shouting at me from afar.

"××●× × × !"

{Log: Golem took 0 damage from Ghost}

I didn’t even move, just causing more trouble for myself, awful.

Regaining my composure, I lifted the gate again. Then, I put it back in place again. This time, by holding it for a long time, it was fixed by itself. I stood there holding the gate, just as I did with the doorknob.

I think Sebastian is watching me. I feel his eyes on me from behind. It's a little uncomfortable, but I have to keep it quiet. I can't even talk to begin with.

--One hour later--

It's been quite a while. I'm not exhausted, but I think it's time to let go. I quickly move back to a distance where I won't be hit if the gate falls down. Don't underestimate the mobility of a metal body.

I brace myself, but it didn’t fall down. Hmmm... That's good, isn't it?

I put my hand on the gate and try to open and close it. It's perfect. I nodded my head in satisfaction. I'll let Sebastian know.

I turned back to the mansion, put my right hand out in front of me and gave a big thumbs up!

Well! Did you see that, Sebastian?

The door of the mansion was closed, and there was no one there.

 Episode 35 – Unbelievable

After helping the three, I started walking towards the mountains again.

I was surprised when the children suddenly thanked me. After all, innocent children can see that we are not a threat.  It was wonderful that they could say thank you even at that age.

The adult woman was silent and wary of me the whole time. I wonder if adults let their experience get in the way of lumping me in with all the other demons out there. That's right. There are good people and bad people in the world. I want you to be open-minded. Judging from the woman's reaction, it might be better to stay away from human habitats. I'll be careful. I should not cause any trouble by interfering.

On my way to the mountains, I found an old mansion. I wondered why it was in such a place. It was quite a large mansion. The trees were overgrown and the garden was overgrown with weeds. It was completely neglected. There was no way to get here, no roads, nothing. Just to be safe, I took a look around the mansion, but there was no sign of anything coming or going. It looks like it's been abandoned, and it shouldn't be a problem for me to get in.

I really need a brush to brush my metal body, hopefully it’s in this mansion. I would really like to get a new one though. To make up for my shortcomings. The only drawback of my metal body is that it makes a cacophony of noise when I rub my body together. There is nothing I can do about this.

Now, let's go in to search the house. I put my hand on the gate and gave a push. The gate opened, making a squeaky sound due to its rustiness. Gashan! The gate came off and fell down. ・・・・・・

It’s old, so it can’t be helped. Lets go inside and start exploring! I made my way through the grass to the front door. I put my hand on the doorknob and tried to open it, but it wouldn't open. I wonder if it's locked. With a cracking sound, the doorknob fell off.

I'm sorry. Well, it's fortunate that no one lives in the house. Good, good. There's nothing I can do about what I've done. I can't change the past. The only thing I can change is the future. Then there's nothing to do but look forward and move on!

A cold wind blew from inside the door.

Hmm? I'm a little creeped out. It's a metal body, but I didn't expect it to give me the creeps. I felt a chill run through me, or something. Is it my imagination?

{Log: Golem took 0 damage from Ghost}

!!!? What! It wasn't just my imagination!

My senses were normal.

And It's the first time I've taken damage in this world! No, but it's zero damage, so there's no damage? What does that mean?

{Log: Due to the effects of [Enlightenment], the state of agitation has been resolved}

Could it be that the voices of the world have gotten it wrong? Pfft. The voices of the world can be wrong, too, can't they? But I guess it can't be helped. Everyone makes mistakes. Even the voices of the world make mistakes once in a while. Don't worry about it, don't worry about it. Pfft.

{Log: My friendship with the Voice of the World has dropped by 1}

Hoy? What the heck, my friendship level has dropped. How can it go down? ・・・・・・. I'm not sure if it was a bad idea to laugh a little. I'm sure you'll be happy to hear that. I'm sorry! The voice of the world. I was just messing with you! Don't worry about the fact that it's true!

{Log: My friendship with the voice of the world has dropped by 1}

Oh no, it's gone down again. What the heck.

{Log: Your friendship with the voice of the world has dropped below the specified value}

{You have lost the title "Friend of the Voice"}.

{You have lost the skill [Interpretation] due to the loss of the title [Friend of the Voice].

Yes? What? Really? That's not true right? Let's take a look at the status just in case.

NO WAY!? The [Voice Tomodachi] and [Interpreter] are really gone.

Can you even lose titles? Is that the case for all titles, or just the Tomodachi series? If I lose the title "Enlightened One", the skill "Awakening" will also disappear and I'll be stuck again? That's not good. That would be very bad. It would be hard if I had to meditate silently again!

{Log: The effects of theEnlightened Onehas resolved my agitated state}

I’m done.

I've lost the skill [Interpreter] that has been helping me so much. From now on, I won't be able to understand what they are saying. I can't even understand the voices of mermaids, beastmen, and monsters anymore. It was one of the few effective skills I had. What a mess.

{Log: The grief state has been resolved due to the effects of [Enlightened One].

{Log: The golem has taken 0 damage from the ghost}

Hmmm, there's so much I don't know about this world. I might as well do some serious research. However, since I can't read, I can't read books or stone monuments. My interpreter is gone, so I can't even have a conversation. I'm at a loss when it comes to researching. Damn it. I seem to have lost something really important. It's only when you lose something that you realize how much you appreciate it.

Fortunately, I know how to get the title "Voice Friend". If I have a friendship level of 5, I should be able to get it. On the other hand, I also found out that if my friendship level drops below 5, I will be stripped of my "Voice Friend" title.

I guess I should consider it a good thing that I know this now, when I'm not in a dire situation.

That's right. If my friendship level has decreased, I’ll just increase it! If you have a fight, you have to make up for it. I will not give up. I am the one who will not give up! I'm the one who won't give up! I'm sure I'll get a friend with a voice again! No, I want to be your friend! If I can ask questions to the voices of the world, it will be easier for me to understand a lot of things about this world! More than before! The time to do it more beautifully than when I first came is surely now.

{Log: Golem took 0 damage from Ghost}

This is the time. I'll think about it more calmly.

I'd like to believe that the enlightened thing will not disappear, even if it is enhanced, because it is activated regularly. I'm sure it's a point system, I'm sure. Or it should not be a point system. If it were a point system, the title "enlightened one" would have disappeared from my mind a long time ago.

When you think about it, the "things" series of titles about yourself, such as "enlightened things" and "unchanging things," may never change once you acquire them. Maybe the "unchanging things" are having an effect on you.

However, if that guess is correct, there is one very unfortunate thing. The title [Agitated Things] cannot be removed. And I really don't need the skill [Become Stupid].

Damn it. But still, the fact that the [Interpreter] disappeared is really annoying. It's all because of the ghosts and whatnot that attacked me.

{Log: Golem took 0 damage from Ghost}

It seems that Ghost has been attacking me endlessly, taking advantage of the fact that I haven't fought back. Ghost, stop it you're gonna crush me!
