Episode 65 - Lynn Approaches Lorea

“Lynn. Today, we have a tea party after the academy. I hope you're prepared.”

“Hold on. I'm almost done.”

Lynn was walking with Yuwen through the hallways of the academy, sending emails in the academy's calligraphy.

Yuven looked at him, and frowned.

“What the hell are you doing with that? You've been doing that all day in class.”

“I'm using the academy's books to send instructions to the crew. It's part of the company's operations.”

“You mentioned something about it... Something about smuggling. Are you still doing that kind of shady business?”

“You can buy goods at a discount. Do you want to buy something?”

“No, I don't want it. I don't trust the products you sell. I've made up my mind to shop at the Raffleberry Merchant Association. They're well-established, so I can shop there with confidence.”

(That's the store that we wholesale our products to. ......)

Lynn chuckled in his mind. Consumers are so cute, he thought.

There are so many campaigns and new products these days. It's so hard to check them out.

(Hmmm. It might be useful to make a kind of magazine that compiles information on the campaigns and new products we are proposing. Maybe we can create some new business opportunities.)

Lynn thought about discussing this with Theo later.

“What class are you taking today?”

“Today it's metallurgical magic.”

“Metallurgical magic. Lillette will be there.”

 Yuven said bitterly.

“Listen. Don't get too friendly with Lillette. She's always coveting things that other people have. She's a real pain in the ass.”

I see that Lillette may have a tendency to do that. But it seemed to Lynn that this was a common tendency among most people in the world.

“Damn it. What a hassle. It's just too much work.”

Lorea filled out the forms with her usual annoyance.

“I'm not sure what to do. It's so inflexible.”

 Lorea was at the academy.

She had already given up on graduating and was no longer attending classes, but since she was a mage at the academy, she had to go to the academy to complete various formalities.

“I still have to attend the Mage Association afterwards.”

“Damn it. It's too much trouble.”

When Lorea came to the academy's exit while mumbling, she passed a group of academy students who were coming to school to take classes.

Unlike herself, these kids have a future. She took a wry glance at them and tried to hurry to her destination.

“Oh, Lorea-san. Hello.”

Lorea was startled to see the person who had called out to her. It was Lynn.

“You're ...... with Theo, I believe.”

“I'm Lynn. I'm sorry that Theo was so rude to you the other day.”

“I'm sure you'll be able to understand what I mean.”

Lorea felt creeped out by Lynn's attitude as he spoke to her in a friendly manner.

The negotiations should have been broken off the other day. What on earth could he be doing talking to her?

“You're on your way to the association, aren't you? Would you like to walk with me?”

“Why would I walk with you?”

“I have a lot of respect for you, Lorea-san. I've been wanting to talk to you for a long time. I know you don't have any interest to walk with me, but would you please accompany me?”

Lynn stole a glance at her profile as he walked alongside Lorea.

Her pouting lips, upturned eyes, frowning face, and tense demeanor gave people the impression that she was unapproachable, but if you looked closely, you could see that she was a beautiful woman with a firm but attractive face.

It was her fiery red hair that particularly attracted Lynn.

Lynn wanted to get close to Lorea.

(Theo may have ended things in a bad way with Lorea, but I may be able to handle things peacefully.)

Recently, Lynn had been getting into the swing of things, realizing that as long as he kept up his appearance, he would be well liked by the ladies.

Lorea had been creeped out by Lynn for a while, but had gradually relaxed her guard at Lynn's polite and humble attitude.

“Theo is a good guy, even though he doesn't talk much. He can be a bit short-tempered and stubborn, but he's a good guy. ...... In fact, he actually wants to settle down with Lorea. In the beginning, he was going to join Lorea's army. However, he just couldn't hold back and said what he did.”

Lynn continued to speak to Lorea, who continued to maintain her stubborn attitude.

“I know Theo also has to respect Lorea, because Lorea is a senior who is doing business in the city of Alfredo before us. Anyone who manages business in Alfredo, we all know that is a respectable ruler.”

Lynn could see from Lorea's continuous behavior and actions that she liked to be seen as someone who had power and influence with her.

As expected, Lynn's word "ruler" tugged at her heartstrings and she responded with a twitch.

“Ruler is an exaggeration. I'm just a hired hand for the association and guild that controls the tax collection for the elevator.”

“Still, she is someone we admire. We've been trying to be more like you, but it's not going so well for us.”

Lorea couldn't help but smile at Lynn's continuous words of respect.

“You seem like a guy who can show respect to your elders. Unlike that rude Theo guy.”

Lynn blushed and was embarrassed. Lorea liked that gesture as well.

“Theo is not a bad guy. He's just easily misunderstood.”

Lynn's attempt to defend his friend was almost charming.

(This child is also swayed by Theo, isn't it?)

Lorea was beginning to feel sorry for Lynn.

“Oh, well. I'll forgive you for your rudeness the other day if Theo is willing to bow. Tell Theo that.”

“Thank you. I appreciate Lorea-san's generous treatment.”

“You're quite a sight, aren't you? How about it? Why don't you come to my office and work for me? I'd be happy to hire you as an employee.”

Lorea tried to pull Lynn out of the way, to see what she could do. If she could get him away from Theo, she might be able to take the upper hand on future assassination plans.

“Thank you. Thank you for your offer, but ...... I can't leave Theo. Theo may be fine without me ..... but I'm not fine without him.”

Lynn said gloomily.

(What a strange creature)

Even the quirky Lorea was moved by Lynn's thoughtfulness and compassion for his friend. She even envied Theo, who was adored by such a cute creature.

She is an emotional person by nature.

Two high-pitched voices are heard as they come to the terminal that separates the elevators from the academy to the various levels.

“Hey, Lynn. What are you doing? We have to go to the tea party.”

“Lynn, are you going somewhere with Yuwen again?”

When Lorea turned her head towards the voice, she saw two girls coming towards them.

 It was Yuwen and Lillette.

Apparently, they had some business with Lynn.

“Yuwen. Lillette. Hold on a moment. I'm in the middle of a business meeting with Lorea-san.”

When Lynn said this, the two girls disapprovingly but quietly withdrew as Lynn said.

“Lynn, you must be really popular with the girls.”

When Lorea said this, Lynn turned over and blushed again.

“That's not true. They're just using me for their own purposes.”

Although Lynn said that, Lorea had a feeling she could understand how the girls felt.

There is something about him that made me want to keep him with me. He is like a rare and expensive jewel.

Lynn and Lorea walked along chatting and laughing, and eventually they reached the Mage Association.

“Well, Lorea-san. I guess this is where we say goodbye.”

“Yes, I guess so.”

Lorea felt a pang of regret at having to part ways with Lynn.

“Thank you for walking with me today, Lorea-san. Lorea-san. If you don't mind, would you like to have dinner with me again sometime and we can talk?”

Lorea pondered for a moment. She wondered if it was a good idea to be so friendly with the person she was about to kill.

“I don't think we need to fight each other. I'm sure we can find a mutually satisfactory way. When you have made up your mind, please contact the office. I'll be waiting.”

When Lorea returned to her office, her subordinates were furiously planning the raid.

When she came in, she gave them an update on the progress.

“Lorea-sama. Cerberus will be arriving from above in the next few days.”

“I've also acquired Theo and Lynn's schedules. It seems that they both have a business meeting with a major merchant company on the 80th level this weekend. If we attack them on their way back, we can eliminate them without difficulty.”

“This is going to be quicker than I thought.”

The men seemed to be in an unusually relaxed mood.

They felt that the problem would be solved smoothly and they would not have to worry about upsetting their master.

Therefore, Lorea's next words surprised them.

“Oh, about that”, she said. “Let's postpone the date and time of the attack for a little longer.”

“Eh? What?”

“Yes it's postponed. Postponed. Let's proceed with the transportation of Cerberus as it is and wait a little longer for the attack.”

“Then when will you do it?”

“I'll decide that later.”

The men were simply bewildered by the sudden change in Lorea's behavior.

“And the target of the attack, though. Can we change it to Theo alone? I don't think there's any reason to include Lynn in this. We can just eliminate Theo.”
