Episode 6: Yoshida Neji Co, Ltd.
“Status Close”
~Picon!~
The status board
disappeared in response to my words, which I said on a hunch.
“Oh, shit. Thank God
you're gone.”
If the status screen would
have stayed always in front of me, it would have been a nuisance.
I was in the park after
the rain.
It was here that I had
been taught about murderers by a girl named Akira earlier.
- Every time the
murderer kills someone, he gains one level.
- The person the murderer
kills will disappear with everything they are wearing.
The last thing I heard
was a real problem.
- The murderer must
kill someone within a week or they die.
“Am I going to kill
people again...... Oh, man.”
But I had already
prepared myself in my heart.
As Akira said, I should
only target and kill the bad guys.
If I don't do it, and
my life is threatened, then legally I should be able to use self-defense and
emergency measures.
Of course, I'm not
going to say such a thing out loud, and I don't think it would work, but at
least my mental health will be preserved if I believe that.
“I'll just have to do
it.”
I told myself that and
picked up Yuko Ijima's phone, erased all the videos on it, and threw it into
the pond in the park.
☆ ☆ ☆
“Hey, Yamato.”
“Oh, good morning,
Saeki.”
When I went to work the
next day, Saeki, my only classmate and childhood friend, put his hand on my
shoulder first thing in the morning.
“It's unusually hot
today for winter...”
“Then don't touch me.”
“Heh. More importantly,
are you okay with what happened last week? Getting down on one's knees in front of everyone is
a really awful thing to do.”
“Yeah, I don't care
about that anymore.”
The company I work for,
Yoshida Neji Co, Ltd. is a small local subcontractor with 20 employees that
could blow away if a typhoon hit.
The president is a
father, the managing director is a mother, and the executive director is a son.
It's an old-fashioned family business, and all the employees are very careful
not to offend the family members.
Normally, the president
is the most important person in the company, but in this company, the mother,
the managing director, is actually number one.
I was unreasonably made
to get down on my knees in front of all the employees by the executive director
last week, but I'm sure every working person has experienced something like
that to varying degrees.
This company doesn't
have a system or department where you can file a complaint about being
harassed, and if you do, they'll just fire you for whatever reason.
I had a change of mind
and went to my desk as if nothing had happened.
“Hey, Onizuka Paisen!”
(TN- “Paisen” is
Japanese slang to say “Senpai” In a casual manner)
Okajima at the desk
next to me forces me to give him a goofy touch as a greeting.
He's a flirty guy, but
he's still an employee of this company and my junior.
“Ah, good morning,
Okajima.”
I don't really like
Okajima's goofiness, so I ignored the goof and just replied.
“Good morning,
Onizuka-kun.”
This time, Hosoya-san,
who was sitting opposite me, spoke to me.
“Good morning,
Hosoya-san.”
“You'll be working
outside again today, right? It's going to be hot today, so take care of
yourself.”
“Yes, thank you.”
This woman who looks
out for me is Kazumi Hosoya-san.
She is a senior to me,
but she was born in March, so she is around the same age as me, 24.
She's a beautiful
woman, and she doesn't pretend to be, and she's very pleasant.
When I was drinking, I
let it slip to Saeki that I secretly had a crush on Hosoya-san.
“Don't worry, I'm here
for you, Onizuka-Paisen.”
“Ah, yes. You take care
too, Okajima-kun”
“Thanks”
Okajima shook his head
in a small vertical motion as if he was in a rhythm, and used a honorific tone
that didn't seem very respectful to Hosoya-san.
What's the point of
having you around?
The reason why I was
made to get down on my knees by the executive director last week was because
you were rude to him.
Okajima is a guy who
can't do his job at all, and he's always like this, so even though he's only
been with the company for three months, he's already been in trouble with many
of our clients.
And it was my role as a
trainer to cover for him.
Normally, such a
useless employee would be fired immediately, but Okajima is extremely
good-looking and the managing director likes him.
Thanks to this, I was
always the one who got caught in the middle.
And then...
“Good morning!”
Saeki stood up from his
seat and shouted loudly, as if he were from a cheering squad.
It was time to start
work, and the president and his son showed up.
In response, all the
employees stood up in unison.
Loud greetings in the
morning are a company rule, so of course I follow the tradition.
“””Good morning!”””
“Yes, yes, good
morning!”
After being greeted by
all the employees, the president walked into the glass-walled president's
office in a good mood and unfolded the newspaper that was on the table.
The managing director
and executive director sat down at their desks on the same floor as us and
managing director began to do her makeup and executive director was playing
game on his smartphone.
This was the usual
morning scene at this company.
Thanks for the chapter keep up the good work
