Leveling Murderer - Chapter 34

 Episode 34: The Seventh Day

I was regretting it.

I should have told Saeki my secret, no matter how he felt about it.

I should have told him that Saburo Yamazaki was a dangerous murderer and to stay away from him.

Following Hosoya's disappearance, Saeki also disappeared, and our company's name was picked up by the media.

The company was forced to close temporarily due to the large number of reporters.

I was also interviewed by a TV crew, but I wore a mask and left in front of the cameras as if I was trying to escape.

Even so, information leaked out from somewhere, and a man claiming to be a magazine reporter even came to my apartment.

I was indeed horrified when he even asked the mother and daughter next door about my personality.

I immediately called the Shimizu family to apologize for that.

I really wanted to apologize in person, but I didn't know where or who was watching.

If the media found out that Misa's father was also missing, things would get even more complicated.

So I decided to refrain from contacting the Shimizu family for a while.

It will be seven days tomorrow since I killed my last person.

If I don't kill someone by 9 p.m. tomorrow, I'll be dead.

But I had already made up my mind who I would kill next.

Saburo Yamazaki - the murderer who may have killed Hosoya-san and Saeki.

In this day and age, it's not popular to take revenge, but Saeki had been my childhood friend since nursery school.

He was a good guy, although somewhat well-behaved.

You can't just kill him and then leave it at that.

Yamazaki Saburo......I will definitely kill you.

I mumbled to myself as I laid on my bed staring at the ceiling.

Early in the morning, after making sure that no reporters were around, I left the room.

I said the incantation, "Ngarince" closed my eyes, and thought of the face of Saburo Yamazaki, whom I despised.

Then the image of Saburo Yamazaki appeared behind my eyelids.

Ngarince is a clairvoyant spell.

It is a spell that consumes 6 MP and allows you to find out the current movements of anyone whose name and face you know.

“Are you still sleeping...”

Saburo Yamazaki is currently sleeping soundly at home.

I can clearly see his condition as if I were taking a picture of him.

I had already checked the location of his house yesterday, so there was no problem.

Saburo Yamazaki seemed to be living with his wife and children only two kilometers away from my apartment.

He lives in a house with a security camera at the entrance and a lot of gravel in the yard to prevent thieves.

Perhaps he was afraid that he would be targeted.

I went to a park near Saburo Yamazaki's house.

I sat down on a bench there and closed my eyes and looked for Saburo Yamazaki again.

Saburo Yamazaki, still in his pajamas, walked his wife and child out the front door, then went to the living room, turned on the TV and laid down on the sofa.

Apparently, he had no work today.

I continued to watch Saburo Yamazaki in the park for a while, keeping my eyes closed.

But there was no sign of him going out at all.

I had planned to kill him outside, but it looks like the plan was off.

The security cameras would be a nuisance, but I could break into the house directly.

Now is the time to do it, when his wife and children are out.

That's what I thought, and I decided to take immediate action.

After leaving the park, I walked around the road in front of the convenience store.

Since it was in the countryside, I knew that there were no surveillance cameras, as long as I paid attention to the security cameras at the convenience store.

I walked through the gate with the nameplate [Yamazaki] on it and through the garden.

Since I had cast a spell to make my footsteps stealthier, my footsteps did not make a sound even when I walked on the gravel.

When I closed my eyes again in front of the door, I saw that Saburo Yamazaki was currently dozing on the sofa.

I knew it was now or never.

I steeled myself and slowly opened the front door.

I walked down the hallway to the living room and found Saburo Yamazaki snoring on the sofa.

I took out the kitchen knife I had hidden in my pocket and aimed it at the neck of the sleeping Saburo Yamazaki.

Die!

I swung it down as hard as I could.
