Leveling Murderer - Chapter 39

 Episode 39: Kengo Kadokura

Kengo Kadokura is a peeping tom.

If this fact is made public, Kadokura will be socially obliterated.

But how to publicize this is the problem.

It wouldn't be good if I were to spy on Kadokura at the moment he was taking pictures of the inside of women's skirts on the escalator at the station.

If I'm not careful, I may be mistaken for a peeping tom.

If that's the case, should I anonymously report to the police to mark Kengo Kadokura?

No, I don't think the police will do anything about that.

It's not as if Kadokura is always taking pictures.

With my clairvoyant ability, I closed my eyes and watched Kadokura's every move while I was in my room.

Three hours passed as I patiently continued my surveillance.

After three hours of persistent surveillance, it was getting dark when Kadokura, who had finally finished his surveillance, was on his way home.

Kadokura's house was a three-story mansion.

It didn't seem like the kind of place where a guy who skipped work to indulge in secret photography could live.

As Sasaki-san had told me, Kadokura was greeted by his strong-willed wife.

Then a cheeky looking boy in his early elementary school years came to the door and pointed a toy gun at Kadokura.

“Hmmm...... I wonder why he's doing voyeurism when he looks so happy, this guy.”

After finishing his dinner, Kadokura went to his room and locked the door.

He then begins to transfer the data from the phone he had been taking videos and pictures of earlier to his computer.

“Hmm?”

After watching for a while, Kadokura started burning DVDs on the computer.

He put stickers on the burned DVDs and packed them in a bag.

“Could this guy be ......?”

My hunch was right.

Kadokura had unexpectedly taken the video footage and made a DVD of it, and was selling it on the Internet.

“I see. So it was a combination of hobby and business.......”

The next day, I contacted Sasaki-san during her lunch break and told her the truth about Kadokura's true nature.

I thought she would be happy to know that I had gathered materials that might be able to eliminate Kadokura socially, but suddenly Sasaki-san started crying on the other end of the phone.

“Um ...... what's wrong? Sasaki-san, are you okay?”

“...... hiccup...... gush......”

I can hear the tears spilling out.

I decided to wait until Sasaki-san stopped crying.

I'm a detective now, so I have plenty of time on my hands.

Five minutes later.

“I'm sorry......it's fine now.”

Sasaki-san said weakly.

I don't think she's okay at all.

“What's going on?”

I asked.

“...... I was actually dating a colleague from the same department until now.”

Sasaki-san began to talk in a faint voice.

“I was dumped just a few minutes ago at .......”

“Could it be because of the incident at ......?”

“Yes...... he believed what Kadokura said and did not believe me. We even talked about marriage, and yet.......”

“……Is that so”

I couldn't think of anything to say.

Unfortunately, I'm not the type of person who can say something wise at a time like this.

“Please k.......”

Then Sasaki-san whispered something to me.

“What is it?”

“……please”

“Oh, I'm sorry. Please speak a little louder.”

“Please kill Kadokura”

Her voice was very cold, yet at the same time somewhat fragile.
